Sallins Celtic vs Prosperous United
For the second week in a row the teams went head to head in terrible weather conditions. All credit to Sallins for having their pitch in top condition for the match. Prosperous kicked off and Dara immediately tried a cheeky shot from the tip and almost caught out the Sallins keeper! This was the classic game of two halves.. The first half belonged to Prosperous and a lot of pressure was put on the Sallins defence and inevitably led to the goal which came from a good shot by Shane which the keeper could only parry and Billy quickly tapped the ball in to the net. Another good shot from Billy from the right was only kept out by a great save from the keeper who tipped it over the crossbar. The half ended Prosperous one up.
Two very wet teams lined up for the second half and this time it was Sallins who were putting the pressure on Prosperous from the tip off. The Prosperous defence of Dara, Luke, Alex, Sean, Murray and Luke in goal stood firm to all of Sallins efforts. Every time they cleared the ball upfield there were Prosperous players doing a great job of holding Sallins in their own half for long periods of play, All credit to Tom, Aaron, Josh,Billy and Shane. Late in the game Sean and Conor came on for Sean and Josh and brought fresh legs to the battle.
The final whistle couldn't come quick enough for Prosperous and when it did a great cheer went up from everyone. The lads are now into the last 32 of the Cup and the next round is an open draw with teams from all over Ireland.
Let's hope it's a home draw! Well done lads, (Ger)
