PROSPEROUS UNITED 3 - 4 ARLINGTON BLUE
A thrilling game in Prosperous in glorious sunshine.Arlington took an early lead but were pegged back with a good follow up goal by Luke. Both teams had chances to score but the goalies were on top. Arlington again took the lead but Josh pegged them back to make it 2-2 .Arlington then scored two quick goals in the third quarter, but a well taken penalty by Adam Gordon made it 4-3 .And despite piling the pressure on Prosperous just couldn't get the equailizer that their efforts deserved.
MONASTEREVIN 4 - 3 PROSPEROUS UNITED
Another great game, full of quality goals and excitement in Monasterevin.Prosperous started brightly but were unlucky to fall behind to breakaway goal. Today's captain Paul Byrne led the team to a great equalizer finished off by Josh McCarthy. The teams were all square 1-1 at half time. In the third quarter Monasterevin scored 3 quick goals to stun Prosperous. However this sparked a great fightback led by Shedrach ,Tristan , Billy and Adam. The pressure eventually paid off with goals from Josh McCarthy and James Ralph. Monasterevin managed to hang on somehow and denied Prosperous a deserved draw. A great team performance by all including Ryan, Cillian and Conor.
PROSPEROUS UNITED 0 - 3 KILLCELTIC
Prosperous put in a fighting performance against a very tall Kill side. The first quarter was very even and ended scoreless, both sides had chances but Luke Stafford in goal insured that the Prosperous goal stayed intact. In the second quartrer Prosperous had chances with James, Paul and Billy going close. However following a corner Kill scored after a goal line scramble to leave the score 1-0. The third quarter saw no more goals with few chances created. Alessio, Josh, Adam, Cillian and Shedrach ensured the game remained tight. In the last quarter Prosperous tired as the pure bigger size of Kill showed despite some great saves by Robert Murphy, but he couldn't keep out two late Kill goals. This left a the final score 3-0 to Kill. Once again a great performance by this new team with great performances fromTristan, Ryan, Dylan and Josh.

09/02/2013 Prosperous 6 - Kilcock 4
Prosperous got off to a good strong start with Darragh Swords sneaking in an early goal. They continued with the pressure and won a corner.Ryan Burke took a brilliant corner which Darragh was able to chip over the keepers head. They continued with shots on goals but unfortunately none went into the net.
Kevin Hannon, Cathal McKennedy and Christian Coulter played excellently in defence, with Alex Kehoe coming on for Christian after a rough tackle.
The second quarter started and Prosperous managed to keep calm and stay on their feet with the opposition doing their best to push them down!! The pressure was still good with Fionn Ennis making a great attempt on goal which was saved but Cian Byrne was there to kick it in! They had another few good shots with Cian Byrne just missing a second. The quarter finished with Mark Browne making a great save.Again the same strong defence won most of the balls with Kilcock getting very few chances on goal.
The third quarter was a very tough one, with Kilcock starting off very strong but unfortunately Kilcock received a penalty which couldn't be saved. Within a few minutes Kilcock came at Prosperous again and managed to sneak in another one!Prosperous managed to compose themselves and Fionn had 2 great shots on goal. Ryan Critchley then also had an attempt but again we were unfortunate not to score. Then Ryan Burke passed up a great ball to Fionn who scored well. Then Kilcock managed to come back again and score. So with the score now 4-3, Mark Browne made another great save. After a few minutes Kilcock managed to sneak in another one with the quarter ending at 4-4.
Prosperous, however, came back strongly in the fourth quarter with Conor Somers sending a lovely ball up the wing which Darragh passed in to Fionn, who scored a great goal. Both himself and Cian continued getting shots on goal but just missing. Then Ryan Burke kicked another fantastic corner kick which Fionn hit well into the net. With Fionn,Cian and Darragh all still trying hard for goals they were unlucky not to score more. Mark Browne played very well and helped ensure that Kilcock didn't score again.Prosperous gave a great display of team work and never gave up.Well Done.

Sat 23/9/12 Athy Town 5-5 Prosperous Utd U11 Prem
Third game of the season for this new squad of players away to Athy,Looking at the team
play you would hardley know that we have 5 new players
in the squad, From 1 to 13 they have all grasped the idea that playing football
is all about passing, touch, pace, and most important Teamwork.
This year we might not get the results that we deserve by playing a passing game but the lads know that if we keep playing this way we will eventualy get our just rewards.
The game itself was very entertaining with Prosperous playing the better passing game of the two sides, it ended up a 5-5 draw which was a fair result in the end.
Well done to all the lads .
Sat 6/10/12 Edenderry Town 1 - 2 Prosperous Utd
Another away match for the premier team today away to Edenderry who have not lost a game in over a year. The game was played on a pitch that was to small , unmarked and waterlogged but credit to the lads they got stuck in. Edenderry took the lead in the first half but to say they deserved it would be harsh on our lads,
A few words with the lads at half time to let them know that a win was there for the taking seemed to work,
We got a goal from a corner after a lot of pressure on the Edenderry goal.
From then on the game was end to end with both sides creating chances, In the last five minutes we got what we deserved after al ot of hard teamwork from the lads a Goal . The score stayed the same till the end and we got the win that the lads have worked so hard for ........
A special mention about our goalkeeper Adam Doyle, What a performance every person in the ground was talking about him.....
Well Done Lads.

Prosperous Utd 10 - Liffey Celtic 3
After fighting hard over the last seven weeks without reward Prosperous united under 12's got their just rewards for their efforts.
From the kick - off the lads set out their intentions. After 5 mins Thomas Callan grabbed his 1st with a low drive from a Paul Dockery pass that the Celtic keeper couldn't hold out. From there on it was a feast of goal as Callan netted his 2nd after some great work from Ryan Webb and Connor O'Reilly down the right wing, Callan met O'Reilly's cross and riffled it into the top corner given the keeper little chance.
Eoghan O'Haire got the next with a fine shot from outside the box after Rían Maxwell knocked the ball back to him. Callan got his third quickly after and Webb got the 5th when he met the ball from an O'Haire free kick.
Liffey got a few chances in the 1st half but brave keeper Conor Malone kept them out.
The second half was simular but Celtic got into it a bit more and scored 3 times, but for some good defending from Eoin Wallace,Nathan Bolger, Daniel Murray and Lochie Lipson Ngai it could have been closer. Adam Byrne got on the score sheet after some clever play from Maxwell. O'Haire got another when Maxwell effort came off the Celtic keeper. Sean Scully set Callan up for his 4th and then later Scully again the provider from a corner onto Luke Farrells head to make it 10. Lets all hope this is the start of many good days for these lads who never give up.
Well done boy's.
Man of Match;- Thomas Callan
LIFFEY CELTIC 1 - 6 PROSPEROUS UNITED
AMAZING START TO SEASON
Our opening league game of the season was one to remember, it started with a late change of referee due to the original referee not turning up. But once the game started Prosperous were on fire, and their early domination was rewarded with a 12 yard shot from Liam Kennedy hitting the back of the net. Aaron Gartland put Christopher Delaney through twice but his shots were just off target. Ruadhan Glover was winning all the important challenges with Oisin Kane in the middle. On 14 mins Oisin Kane the new Captain for the season made it 2-0. Then Prosperous switched off and gave away a series of silly free kicks on the edge of their box and Adam McCormack of Liffey pulled one back. Ciaran Ward in the Prosperous goals hadn't seen the ball up to this. And this sparked Prosperous into action and Johnny Byrne found his range with two quick goals on 23 and 28 mins and Johnny was unlucky too have a third ruled out, and Johnny was really in the thick of events, when he went to head a beautiful Liam Kennedy cross into the net only to receive a severe clash of heads, Johnny was able to continue, but Ruadhan Glover had to be replaced through injury.
At half time the remainder of the subs came on for the second half. Brian Crosse making his League debut for Prosperous was full off energy and tricks down the left wing. Lorcan Behan scored a belter from 25yards into the roof of the net. Then Lorcan twice set David O Neill up with chances but the keeper was very alert and saved well. John Mallen, Conor Hutchinson and Chris Morrissey were outstanding at the back. Shane Heffernans energy was spreading to others as Prosperous wanted another goal and it duly came when Joseph Ennis laid a well weighted pass to Johnny Byrne and this was his hatrick and a 6-1 win for Prosperous.
NAAS UNITED 0 - 5 PROSPEROUS UNITED
PERFECTION IN THE SUN
After a couple of ding dong matches over the past two seasons, the team was really up for this fixture. Prosperous were on fire with Johnny Byrne and especially Shane Heffernan chasing down every ball and forcing some early mistakes out of the Naas defence. Liam Kennedy tried his luck with a series of well struck shots that were fractions of target. But on 10 mins Christopher Delaney scored his first league goal of the season. David O Neill had two marvellous chance to score with the keeper saving the first and David dragging the second inchs wide. Johnny Byrne and Oisin Kane both had efforts cleared off the line. But Naas were denied when stand in keeper Lorcan Behan dived bravely at the feet of the young striker to prevent a certain goal.
Into the second half and Naas piled on some early pressure winning a series of corners, but the back four of John Mallen, Chris Morrissey, Conor Hutchinson and Aaron Gartland were totally focused on their job and made clearance after clearance. With the pressure weathered Prosperous went into overdrive in the sun, with Joseph Ennis first to react to a Liam Kennedy corner for 2-0 and then a John Mallen long ball was picked up by Christopher Delaney and he lifted the ball over the advancing keeper into the net.Lorcan Behan then pulled off a save that a premiership keeper would be proud off when he turned a shot heading for the left hand top corner of the goal around the post with a full length diving save through the air, "magnificent to have witnessed this". Then at last the hard working Johnny Byrne scored a well deserved goal. And a very clever short corner played by Johnny Byrne to Conor Hutchinson was dispatched beautifully into the top corner of the net. Johnny and Conor tryed the same move a minute later but the keeper saved well, and in the last minute Brian Crosse almost opened his account. Final score 5-0 win to Prosperous.
KILCOCK CELTIC 5 - 1 PROSPEROUS UNITED
MONDAY NIGHT HORROR SHOW
It was a monday evening fixture against Kilcock, Conditions were greasy after a bad day of heavy rain. and the first half was littered with slips and slides and dropred balls from both teams. Kilcock struck first when Ciaran Ward was unable to hold onto the greasy ball and it was nodded home from on the goal line. Aaron Gartland and John Mallen were making very important tackles. On 18 mins Prosperous were level when Joseph Ennis stabbed home after the Kilcock keeper dropped the greasy ball. The match was turned on its head in the three minutes of injury time that was played. Aaron Gartland was booked for a mistimed challenge and Kilcock were doing their best to get him sent off, and a minute later they scored from a free kick on the edge of the box. From the the restart a Chris Delaney shot hit the cross bar and the keeper scrambled the ball clear but it clearly looked over the line.
The second half was all about decisions and a series of very peculiar decisions all seemed to go against Prosperous. Kilcock took advantage and made it 3-1. then Chris Delaney had two shots which both barely cleared the cross bar with the keeper beaten. Kilcock pushed on and scored twice in two minutes for 5-1. But the worst decision of the day was to arrive when a Chris Morrissey long ball was picked up by Chris Delaney and he sprinted with the ball into the penalty area where the last defender almost pulled the jersey off him, a goal kick was awarded, Prosperous felt they had strong claims for at least a penalty. Final whistle sounded to end a frustrating day.
EDENDERRY TOWN 2 - 1 PROSPEROUS UNITED
BAD DECISIONS DECIDE MATCH
The late kick off time added to this fixture. and Prosperous brought a huge support. Johnny Byrne and Shane Heffernan were both tearing the Edenderry defence into shreds. Joseph Ennis was denied twice from close range and Shane Heffernan missed by inchs when sliding in to try and get onto a Liam Kennedy cross. Birthday boy Liam then struck the cross bar with a ferocious shot . Lorcan Behan scored a cracker after good work by Ruadhan Glover. Then Lorcan went on a run from his own box and exchanged a delightful one two with Shane Heffernan but the keeper saved well. Edenderry were getting away with using a lot of bad language, and one of their players used this to his advantage in trying to get Johnny Byrne carded by taunting Johnny. Deep into injury time Edenderry were awarded a free on the edge of the box and duly scored for 1-1 at half time
The second half started in a very similar fashion with Prosperous forcing the pace, Liam Kennedy went close and Oisin Kane hit the cross bar from a 45 yard free. Then Liam Kennedy sent over a superb cross and David O Neill couldn't get his outstretched leg to it. John Mallen and Chris Morrissey were exceptional at the back. But the big decisions were starting to influence the game as every decision whether right or wrong were being given to the homeside and this was compounded when a free was awarded when Edenderry player fell over the ball and they scored from the resulting play. Everytime there was contact the Edenderry players were going down to waste time. Johnny Byrne and Brian Crosse both went close but were denied by the keeper. Final whistle sounded a little on ther early side to the frustration of the travelling supporters even more.
CARAGH CELTIC 1 - 7 PROSPEROUS UNITED
BACK TO WINNING WAYS
Prosperous were playing their 5th away game in a row, and needed to bounce back after two defeats in a row, but you would have thought that they were the home team with Liam Kennedy settling everyones nerves with a superb 25 yard free. Johnny Byrne hit the post and Ruadhan Glover had two well struck shots go just wide of the post. Oisin Kane clattered the cross bar and the pressure eventually told when Christopher Delaney made it 2-0. Ciaran Ward then saved well from a 20 yard freekick. Then Christopher Delaney hooked a ball over his head against the cross bar. Ruadhan Glover was masterful down the right and one of his crosses was almost headed home by David O Neill. On 32 mins Liam Kennedy grabbed his second of the game. but just like the last two games Prosperouis conceded a goal deep into injury time.
Prosperous brought their four substitues on at half time and the fresh legs were straight into the game. Shane Heffernan went close twice with the keeper saving the first and Shane hitting the side netting. Lorcan Behan was then withdrawn with a sore back and Ruadhan Glover with a sore leg. A bit of a reshuffle at the back for Aaron Gartland and Conor Hutchinson. Keeper Ciaran Ward was badly caught on his leg when diving bravely at the feet of the oncoming Caragh striker. At the other end the Caragh keeper made a splendid save to deny Johnny Byrne a certain goal low down to his right. On 42 mins Brian Crosse scored his first ever Prosperous goal. Shane Heffernan scored a lucky goal when his shot was deflected by the unlucky defender. Prosperous were now on fire and Johnny Byrne grabbed a well taken goal, the best was yet to come and when the impressive Conor Hutchinson passed to Brian Crosse he picked up the ball on the left weaved his way across the box, stopped changed direction and slotted the ball into the bottom corner of the net. Referee blew up a couple of minutes early but no one was complaining.
SFAI 1ST ROUND U14 GOODISON CUP
PROSPEROUS UNITED 6 - 0 WICKLOW ROVERS
DREAM CUP PERFORMANCE

The second half finally got under way after concerns were raised by the opposition to the referee about the condition of the pitch, the referee deemed the pitch playable and within 5 minutes of the restart Newbridge had pulled a goal back. Sean Hannon and Christopher Delaney were trying to use their speed with the pitch getting sticky in areas. Sean Hannon worked his way down the right wing but his lifted shot was plucked out off the air by the Newbridge keeper. The backline of Conor Hutchinson, Aaron Gartland, John Mallen and Chris Morrissey were coming under increasing pressure and Ruadhan Glover and Shane Heffernan were trying to ease the pressure on their defence. Ciaran Ward made a string of top class saves, but on 22 minutes Ciaran had no chance when a 20 yard effort went over his head to level the match. The referee signaled to both teams that 5 minutes remained and what a dramatic 5 minutes this turned out to be. Christopher Delaney had the ball in the net only to be ruled offside to the frustration of Prosperous. Ciaran Ward then produced save of the day down to his left hand post. Back up the other end and Aaron Gartland cleared to the half way line Joseph Ennis passed sideways to Christopher Delaney and this time nobody was taking his goal away and the home crowd went into a frenzy. Now in added time Newbridge piled forward but John Mallen, Conor Hutchinson, Aaron Gartland and Liam Kennedy cleared every ball with the strongest kick that was left in them. Final whistle sounded to huge cheers from the sizeable home crowd.
PROSPEROUS UNITED 9 - 0 KILL CELTIC BLACK
ON CLOUD NINE
Prosperous piled the early pressure on Kill winning six corners in the opening ten minutes, all except one were delivered from the right by Liam Kennedy, with Christopher Delaney going closest with one shot saved and a header over the bar. Sean Hannon almost scored with a low drive after a nice weaving run down the right wing. On 18 minutes the deadlock was broken when Liam Kennedy hit a tremendous strike from 20 yards. Kill had looked composed up to this point, but were now suddenly wobbling and a Conor Hutchinson long ball was dispatched by the ever eager Christopher Delaney for 2-0, and two minutes later Christopher scored his second with a neat finish. It was all Prosperous and the influential Ruadhan Glover hit a belter from the edge of the box into the roof of the net. Kill had a bit more of the possession and their young striker tested Ciaran Ward for the first time. Just as halftime approached Prosperous won a corner down the left and Liam Kennedy's delivery was forced home in a tight challenge by Joseph Ennis. The second half was only seconds old when Aaron Gartland picked out Shane Heffernan and he scored with his first touch. Oisin Kane and Sean Hannon had long ranged efforts well saved by the now busiest player on the pitch the Kill Celtic keeper. But on 42 minutes he could do nothing except watch Lorcan Behan's 25 yard thunderbolt fly past him into the net. David O Neill was unlucky with a glancing header. Kill were now pinned back in their own half as Prosperous chased more goals. John Mallen was unlucky to have his shot cleared off the line and then the other centre half Chris Morrissey went on a mazy 40 yard run to the left hand edge of the box but lifted his shot over the bar. A Liam Kennedy probing corner was knocked home by Oisin Kane for 8-0. The final act was left to the leading scorer Christopher Delaney as he made no mistake in getting his hatrick with a cheeky finish to seal a very impressive victory.
KILL CELTIC BLACK 3 - 5 PROSPEROUS UNITED
GREAT COMEBACK
Kill were on top in the early stages and scored after just 5 minutes, with a low drive from 6 yards through a crowd of players. Prosperous were very sluggish. Liam Kennedy and Sean Hannon were starting to ask questions of the Kill defence. Kill then compounded Prosperous agony with a fine strike going in over Ciaran Ward's head for 2-0. Prosperous were being rallied by captain Oisin Kane and started to find their way back with Liam Kennedy grabbing a goal with a close range finish. David O Neill on his back hooked a ball to Oisin Kane and his shot was saved. Aaron Gartland was busy having to make a couple of well timed interceptions. With half time looming Liam Kennedy weaved his way onto the back line and his cross was turned into the net by Sean Hannon.
The second half saw Prosperous pile on the early pressure and a move that started with Chris Morrissey feeding the ball to Lorcan Behan, and included passes from Ruadhan Glover, Johnny Byrne and Christopher Delaney ended back with Lorcan and he zoomed by the defenders but dragged what looked like a certain goal inchs wide with the keeper beaten. The game was starting to get rough and Prosperous had a free kick which Liam Kennedy drove in low but the keeper saved, Prosperous won a series of corners all delivered by Liam Kennedy with Oisin Kane and Ruadhan Glover going the closest to scoring, and Kill then won their first corner of the second half and scored a goal from close range. Prosperous then won a free kick 40 yards out and Lorcan Behan hit the most beautiful free kick you will ever see straight over the wall into the roof of the net. The referee signalled that their was 8 minutes remaining. Prosperous defence of John Mallen, Conor Hutchinson, Lorcan Behan and Chris Morrissey were winning all the vital headers and clearances. Ciaran Ward then saved well from a 25 yard free kick and a minute later turned a 30 yard free kick around the post. This inspired Prosperous with Ruadhan Glover and Chris Delaney competing for every ball with Sean Hannon still flying down the wing his cross made it through to Johnny Byrne and the birthday boy put Prosperous ahead for the first time, Then Kill were reduced to 10 when a synical foul was done on Christopher Delaney with him on his way towards goal. Liam Kennedy fired the 20 yard free a foot over the bar. Into the last minute and John Mallen hacked the ball forward and Christopher Delaney controlled the ball and dropped his shoulder taking on the two defenders and scored a beauty into the centre of the net sending Prosperous to the top of the table.
U14 JOE ROONEY CUP 2ND ROUND
CARAGH CELTIC 0 - 6 PROSPEROUS UNITED
CUP WIN
Prosperous started their off their U14 Cup campaign away to Caragh, Prosperous made a few changes to their starting line up, but this certainly didn't effect their rhythm as they piled on the early pressure with David O Neill blasting a snap shot over the crossbar, Johnny Byrne then tested the keeper with a well drilled shot, Sean Hannon who was by far the busiest man on the pitch, going on various runs down the right wing tormenting the Caragh defence, Sean had a couple of shooting opportunities blasting a couple wide and one into the side netting. Joseph Ennis had a left foot shot well saved. David O Neill almost side footed a Johnny Byrne cross into the corner of the net but his touch wasn't stong enough. David was in the thick of the action again and Prosperous should have had a penalty when David's was taken down from behind. Then a Liam Kennedy corner was played to Lorcan Behan and he lobbed the ball over all the players in the packed box, but ther keeper saved well, but on 17 minutes the resistance was broken when Liam Kennedy fired home from close range and a minute later a Liam kennedy cross was tapped home by Johnny Byrne at the far post and two minutes later Sean Hannon got a goal that his performance deserved chasing down his original shot. Then out of the blue Caragh found their feet and only for some top defending from Conor Hutchinson, Ruadhan Glover and Oisin Kane and a couple of saves from Ciaran Ward the home team could have been back in the match. With half time fast approaching the Caragh keeper pulled off a brilliant save from Liam Kennedy, but not to be out done CIaran Ward made an incredible full lenght stretching save pushing the ball onto the crossbar . The second half was only a couple of minutes old when Christopher Delaney belted one into the roof of the net , Brian Crosse almost got one at the back post and Shane Heffernan's shot was well saved, Oisin Kane and Conor Hutchinson both had long range efforts just wide. Then a Conor Hutchinson ball was taken down by Johnny Byrne and he chested the ball to Christopher Delaney and he blasted in to the net. Oisin Kane's shot was parried and David O Neill's was denied by a well timed block, then David was fouled in the box for the second time but no penalty awarded. Joseph Ennis clever flick almost opened up the defence and next to show of some skill was Brian Crosse with clever use of his body. Prosperous were awarded a free kick 30yards out and after a big consultation between Liam and Christopher, it was Chrristopher who floated the ball over the keepers head for his hatrick and a 6-0 lead. Caragh wanted a goal and Ruadhan Glover and Lorcan Behan were being forced backwards, but Ciaran Ward showed his metal and desire to keep a clean sheet when saving bravely at the feet of the advancing striker and in the final minute he made a magnificent treble saved denying Caragh a certain goal which was applauded by both sets of supporters.
The Under 15's had a comfortable win in their second league game of the season. Goals coming from Martin Delaney (4), Dale McGrath (3), Jamie Adams (2), Anto Farrell and Andrew Halley. A good team performance with some very attractive football being played at times.

Newbridge Town FC 2 Prosperous Utd 2 U16 Major
Both teams started off the game with great pace with Newbridge playing good football & stretching the Prosperous defense marshalled well by Hugh Scully & Sean Kehoe on several occassions. Prosperous had a couple of opportunities with James Ansell & Simon Ennis having efforts go just wide. Newbridge continued to press & got their reward from a long punt into the corner & a ball scooped back into the box deceived everyone & bounced over the keeper. As Prosperous attempted to push for the equaliser Newbridge struck again with a great goal from a cut back to the edge of the box dispatched past Conor O'Sullivan into the top corner.
The 2nd half started much int the same manner as the 1st but this time it was Prosperous who took control of the game & started to cause difficulty in the Newbridge defense with balls being played in behind the fullbacks on both sides. From one of these Simon Ennis chased & as the keeper came out he lobbed a great shot over the advancing keeper to bring Prosperous back into the game. The Prosperous team could feel the game shifting & good work from Joey Balfe & Tadhg Carney meant that the Newbridge threat was reduced to a couple of shots from outside the box. The equaliser came from a free kickplayed over the top again & some hesitation by the defence allowed Simon Ennis to pounce for his 2nd goal. Simon was unlucky in the last few minutes to see a good free kick just creep over the bar with the Newbridge goalkeeper well beaten. A fair result will leave both teams possibly rueing chances to win.
