Prosperous United 0-5 BBC United
In what was the only 11 aside game to survive at home on Sat, Prosperous entertained BBC & the expectation was that this would be a close game after a tremendous 5-5 draw 4 weeks previous.
The game started in light rain but after approx 20 mins the weather turned nasty & a deluge including hail & sleet turned the game on its head & into a lottery. Unfortunately for Prosperous BBC tuned into the conditions better & went into the halftime break 2-0 up after 2 opportune strikes. Bad defending allowing a free header from a corner & the 2nd slipping under Prosperous keeper Donal Molloy.
The 2nd half was again a lottery with the ball holding up on the soaked ground & it was BBC again who struck the decisive blow with the games 3rd goal finishing off the game as a contest. They scored 2 more before the end to seal a decisive victory. Simon Ennis, James Ansell, Hugh Scully & Stephen Ryan were the best performers for Prosperous in what would have been better played in kyaks at one point.

Kilcock Celtic 3-3 Prosperous United
Sat afternoon saw Prosperous travel to a Kilcock team who have lost only 1 game this season also so an entertaining game was expected.
Both teams worked the ball well & chances came to both teams with the Kilcock Goalkeeper making 2 great saves to prevent Simon Ennis & Jamie Doyle opening the scoring. Kilcock were then ararded a penalty after Prosperous Keeper Donal Molloy was deemed to have fouled the Kilcock Forward. The Kilcock player dusted himself down & stroked the ball to Molloy's right & passed the post out for a goal kick. Within 5 minutes Kilcock took the lead after they were allowed to easily advance into the Prosperous Penalty area and when the ball was played across goal it was easily tapped in. Prosperous pushed forward and were a little unlucky when Jamie Doyle played in James Ansell but his attempt rolled agonisingly wide. Just before half time Kilcock struck again when again they pressed forward without being pressed & the ball again played across was put away without any pressure on the striker. The 2nd half started with Prosperous advancing & within 10 minutes Joey Balfe hit an unstoppable shot from the corner of the penalty area into the roof of the net. Prosperous were now on the front foot & pressing hard with Jamie Doyle having the best chance but could not get the final touch after good work from James Ansell. Simon Ennis was staring to get more involved & it was from a great run & cross that Jamie Doyle got the equaliser with a towering header. Ennis had a couple of chances but each of them was just off target. In the last 5 minutes Prosperous forced a corner & from the corner by Hugh Scully ,the Kilcock keeper fumbled it into his own goal. Prosperous however could not close out the game & in the last minute a cleared ball was picked up by a Kilcock midfielder & his strike was good enough to beat Molly into the bottom corner. A great game for all in attendance to witness & a fair result in the end. Other players to mention for Prosperous were Sean Kehoe , Stephen Ryan & George Colville who all performed in a better 2nd half performance.

Swords Celtic 5-0 Prosperous United FAI U17 Cup
On Sunday Morning a depleted squad travelled to North County Dublin to play a Strong Swords Celtic team.
The game started with Swords pressing from early on with some good attack play met with a determined defensive line from the Prosperous back four of Joey Balfe ,George Colville , High Scully & Sean Kehoe , with Donal Molloy standing strong in goal. The defense was breached however after 15 mins followed shortly after by a penalty for hand ball in the box but a little harsh. Just before half time a 3rd goal was conceded. Prosperous had little to offer in response. The 2nd half started again with Swords pressing forward but again resolute defending kept them at bay. Prosperous had little to answer the onslaught from midfield with Patrick Mitchell,Simon Ennis & James Ansell being over run. Eventually 2 more goals were conceded. Prosperous should have scored but Simon Ennis missed a great chance when clean on goal. A difficult defeat but little more could be expected as we only travelled with 11 players. This Swords Celtic team have a few players currently in discussion with English clubs.
I would just like to say thank you to Swords Celtic Management team for their hospitality with refreshments & sandwiches after the game & it was great to see the 2 teams mingling afterwards having some friendly banter.

Monasterevin FC 8-2 Prosperous United
On Saturday Afternoon a weakened Prosperous Team travelled to Monasterevin after drawing 1-1 ,2 weeks previous. It was Monasterevin who started well with the Prosperous defense without Sean Kehoe at centre back struggling to get any fluidity in their game & subsequently went 2 down with 15 minutes. Prosperous got 1 back through Jamie Doyle before Monasterevin extended their lead to 4-1. Doyle again scored a great goal from 25 yards to give Prosperous some hope at half time. Before half time Prospeous had 2 good chances to further cut the deficit with Sean Durkin & Doyle again missing good chances.
The 2nd half started similar to the 1st half with Monasterevin in control & they extended their lead. Prosperous had Mgr Ed.House sent from the ground for questioning the referees decisions & then had Patrick Mitchell also sent off for 2 yellow cards. Monasterevin pushed on & got 3 more before Prosperous again missed some easy chances to reduce the deficit.
On a bad day at the office for all concerned the only bright light was the performance of Stephen Ryan who earlier in the day had played a county hurling final ( Won ). We will regroup for next week

BBC United 5-5 Prosperous United
On a beautiful Autumn morning in Cadamstown both these teams served up a great battling game that kept the supporters engrossed throughout. BBC started brightly & only for quick reaction of Prosperous Keeper Donal Molloy they might have snook in front. It was Prosperous who opened the scoring with a well taken goal by Jamie Doyle before a soft penalty for an adjudged trip gave BBC the chance to equalise which they did with a well taken penalty to Molloys right. Prosperous worked well down the right with neat interplay between Hugh Scully & James Ansell with Scully skipping past the fullback & producing a great pullback for Doyle to score his 2nd. Almost immediately BBC pushed forward & Stephen Ryan was adjudged to have barged the Centre forward & again a penalty was given & dispatched. Straight from the tip off Hugh Scully noticed the BBC keeper off his line & from inside the Prosperous half ( 60yards )sent a wonderfullly judged ball into he roof of the BBC net. Within 5 minutes Pedro De Souza scored a great 4th goal when he moved the ball onto his right & drifted it into the top corner from 25yards. BBC immediately responded & aided by sloppy defending by Prosperous they got 2 goals just before half-time to end all square 4-4 at the interval.
The 2nd half was not as goal rich as the 1st but BBC managed to sneak a 5th goal 1/2 way through the half & if iit were not for a fingertip save from Molloy & a very brave block at a strikers feet they would have extended their lead. Prosperous had their best spell towards the end of the game with Scully marauding down the left & crossing on a couple of occassions but the final touchs eluded Doyle & Ansell. With the game almost up Ansell & Patrick Mitchell combined to cross into the BBC box & Joey Balfe was on hand to drive it into the BBC goal for a well deserved score & a share of the points. This was a great battling team performance & showed great desire & drive to get something from the game. Great credit has to go to the lads as they never gave up one & all left the pitch after giving 100%.

Prosperous Utd 1-1 Monasterevin AFC
On a cold wet & breezy afternoon both teams battled the elements with the elements winning throughout the day.
Chances were few & far between with Monasterevin winning the midfield battle after Prosperous were forced into team changes due to absence. The game was a good contest with the Prosperous backline marshalled well by Sean Kehoe & Hugh Scully keeping a lively Monasterevin strike force at bay foe most of the first half. Unfortunately a mix-up between Kehoe & Goalkeeper Donal Molloy allowed the Monasterevin right winger to steal in & slot home to end the 1st half in the lead. The 2nd half started with Prosperous facing into the wind & the mind games of the Monasterevin team seemed to be working on the Prosperous team with a large number of players being bullied into playing the opposition way & thumping long balls forward. Prosperous got back into the game with what can only be described as a wonderful strike of a 30 yard free kick into the Monasterevin top corner by Ptrick Mitchell. This seemed to breathe some life & belief into Prosperous & they started to finally play some football with James Ansell & Jamie Adam coming more into the game. Unfortuantely justa s they were getting on top Simon Ennis was sent off for a 2nd Yellow Card & this handed the advantage to Monasterevin again. A good strike from the Monasterevin winger almost won the game when he caught Prosperous Keeper Molloy of guard & the ball hit the far post before rolling across the line & hitting the near post with Molloy grateful to snap it up. Prosperous had the last effort in a goal mouth scramble but could just not get a clear strike & the game peetered off with no further chances. A lesson to be learnt here for the Prosperous Utd team is to keep playing your own game & do not get bullied & battered into submission & play the the game the way the opposing team want you to as the outcome is clear to see.

Sallins Celtic 1-Prosperous Utd 7 U17 Major
A great start to the new season away to Sallins with a superb all round display from the team. Prosperous started this game with great intent & went close on a few occassions through Joey Balfe, Simon Ennis & Jamie Doyle. However on a quick counter attack Sallins took the lead after approx 15 Mins. Immediately Prosperous responded with a great equalising goal from Hugh Scully from a super strike dipping over the keeper from 30 yards. Propserous extended their lead with a well taken goal from Jamie Doyle before a great individual effort from James Ansell. At this point Prosperous were playing some lovely football with great interplays between midfield & frontline. As the 2nd half started Sallins pushed forward & a great save from Donal Molloy kept them at bay. James Ansell scored his 2nd before Joey Balfe scored another great individual goal which was well due to him as his industry in midfield warranted a goal following some great efforts beforehand.. Simon Ennis scored to make it 6-1 & another fantastic strike from Jamie Doyle made it 7-1. Other notable performances from Prosperous on a day in which all players performed at the top of their game were from Jamie Adams, Steven Ryan in defense & from Patrick Mitchell in midfield.
