On a below zero morning the Under 14's faced Newbridge Town White in the first round of the divisional shield. It took a lot of bravery from both teams to face the high winds and freezing temperature and brave they were. No real football could be played and the conditions lent itself to several errors from both sides. With honors even at half time Prosperous heated things up early in the second. Rian, Sean and Thomas (just back from injury) came close to breaking the deadlock but were denied by the keeper. From a resulting corner Eoghan crossed over, Eoin flicked in on to Thomas and he headed it past the keeper to put United one up. Newbridge fought back but never really troubled keeper Conor and a great defence led by Eoghan and Darragh. Outstanding midfielders Lochie and Adam kept up the pressure on Newbridge with David getting on the end of some nice moves to gain another corner. This time Sean played a smart ball to Eoghan, who skillfully beat the defender on the tight side and chip the ball to Eoin who headed home beautifully, a great move and a great finish. Man of the Match Adam. Well done, NM.
