Prosperous United 2 v 1 St Patrick's (Wicklow)
A home game for Prosperous in the Cup today but it was never going to be easy in the windy conditions and a determined visiting team. Prosperous started the game playing into the strong breeze and the Prosperous defence were busy clearing long balls played in on the breeze for much of the half. St Patrick's grabbed the first goal from a corner but Prosperous equalised just before the half finished with a through ball from Shane and a great shot from Billy.
The second half was all Prosperous pressure with great passing and movement from everyone on the team. The second goal for Prosperous was inevitable and it came from a quick throw in from Luke to Alex, his speed brought the ball to the edge of the box and a great cross from Josh to Billy led to him netting his second of the day.
For the last few minutes St Patrick's tried in vain to get an equaliser but caused no problems to the Prosperous team who were in control at this point. Every player from defence, midfield and forwards played a huge part in this win today. Well done lads.

Prosperous United 1 v 0 Kildare Town
A determined Prosperous United ground out a fantastic win against a previously unbeaten Kildare Town. Kildare Town played some great football today but were defeated by a team who played with a strength of will and a firmness of purpose plus a slice of luck and the crossbar a couple of times. The game started fast and stayed that way throughout, Prosperous were never going to get many chances today but the one they got was taken with a great header by Dara who had a tremendous game.
Every player then gave their all to defend the lead against an onslaught of Kildare attacks but it was a Prosperous day for the Under 15's today.. Well done lads.!

Prosperous 0 v 3 Clane
The loss of players through injury and illness was always going to lead this to be a difficult game for Prosperous. The contest was evenly matched until Prosperous lost their captain and centre half Darragh through a head injury, this then made the job even harder for the home team. Clane got their first goal coming in from the left with a delicate chip over our keeper Luke. Prosperous tried hard to get back into the match but Clane defended well. A bad day got worse when a second and third goal for Clane came in the second half after pressure on Prosperous and strong play in the Clane midfield swamped Prosperous.
Prosperous haven't found their feet in the league yet this season but are confident their new coaching techniques will start to pay dividend very soon.

Naas AFC 5 v 0 Prosperous United
Both teams started well and neither got the upper hand until Naas went in front at the end of the first quarter. Prosperous were then unlucky to concede two more goals in the next three minutes to a deflected clearance and a crossed ball. Prosperous fought hard in the second half and although there was some good plays made going forward and two outstanding saves from Luke in goal they couldn't get back into the game with a goal. Two more goals late in the match from Naas brought the final score to 5.
The lads gave their all for 80 minutes and played well despite the result.

SFAI CUP ROUND 1
PROSPEROUS UNITED 0-5 EDENDERRY TOWN "A"
This was a real David and Golaith situation, as Edenderry were the beaten finalists from last season. The game started with Edenderry piling on the early pressure. Some calculated and brave defending by Aaron Gartland, Daniel Banim, John Mallen and Chris Morrissey, and fantastic goalkeeping from Ciaran Ward kept the home team level, but on 13 mins Edenderry scored with a stunning shot and followed that up with a cross that forced an unfortunate own goal from close range for 2-0. Lorcan Behan, Shane Heffernan and Conor Hutchinson started to win some of the 50/50 challenges. Christopher Delaney and David O Neill were being marked very tightly. Lorcan Behan hit a 30 yard thunderbolt inchs over the bar and then a 30 yard free just the wrong side of the left hand post.. Ciaran Ward made a string of saves to keep It 2-0 at half time.
Prosperous had the bare 11 due to injuries but kept plugging away and good work from David O Neill and Andrew Devine almost gave Christopher Delaney a clear path to Goal. John Mallen and Chris Morrissey were outstanding in the heart of the defence winning ball after ball. Shane Heffernan never stopped battling all day, and he played a well weighted ball into Lorcan Behan who was fouled 30 yards from goal. Conor Hutchinson hit the resulting free just outside the right hand top corner of the goals Christopher Delaney was clipped on the heals as he approached the edge of the box and Christopher took the resulting free which was barely tipped over the bar by the keeper. Ciaran Ward was sensational saving numerous shots with the pick being a 20 yard pile driver which he turned over the bar. Edenderry then broke Prosperous hearts with two quick goals and then the second unfortunate own goal made it 5-0 giving a somewhat false score line. Prosperous wanted a goal and Lorcan Behan chased down everything and just couldn't get the clear shot on goal that he deserved. Christopher Delaney chased down a sloppy clearance by the Edenderry keeper but it deflected to the side of the goals, final result 5-0 to Edenderry, but Prosperous should be proud of the effort and commitment that they put into this matcha against a very good Edenderry team.
KILL CELTIC 3 - 4 PROSPEROUS UNITED
Prosperous had to re shuffle their squad for the second match in a row due to an injury. Prosperous had a couple of early chances with Brendan Cassidy twice going close, but it was Kill who snatched the lead with a ball over the top as the Prosperous defence were caught flat footed. The response was immediate with a move starting with Chris Morrissey who passed to Shane Heffernan and he found Lorcan Behan and he fed Christopher Delaney and that was 1-1. Aaron Gartland and John Mallen made some vital clearances. Prosperous had six corners in a row and between Daniel Banim and Brendan Cassidy and Aaron Gartland most were delivered on the button with Oisin Kane almost heading one home and Lorcan Behan shooting wide, but like earlier it was Prosperous who got caught and this time from a corner that wasn't properly cleared. Yet again they responded immediately withShane Heffernan delivering a super ball from the left wing Christopher Delaney stooped down on his knees and headed into the net. Just before halftime a David O Neill header was cleared of the line and Oisin Kane's long range shot bounced on top of the crossbar. Prosperous were now starting to turn up the heat, with both Andrew Devine and Christopher Delaney going oh so close to scoring. At the other end Ciaran Ward made a couple of very important saves and interceptions. Eventually a nice knock on by Andrew Devine was picked up by Christopher Delaney and he slotted home for his hatrick from a very acute angle. EDENDERRY TOWN 2 - 3 PROSPEROUS UNITED

Shane was on fire and he crossed for Chris Delaney but his shot was well save. They were awarded a very soft penalty which they converted and while Prosperous were thinking about what had happened it was 3-2. David O Neill, Shane Heffernan and Johnny Byrne had all snap shots well saved. Prosperous dug in like you haven't seen in a long time brilliant blocks from Chris Morrissey and John Mallen, great interceptions by Conor Hutchinson and Aaron Gartland, pure guts and determination by Daniel Banim and Oisin Kane in the middle Johnny Byrne and David O Neill working their socks off trying to get hold of the ball, wave after wave of attacks came from the home team, but John Mallen took no prisioners and made clearance after clearance and Chris Morrissey literally put his body on the line blocking various efforts.
