UNDER 11 MAJOR DIVISION 2 TEAM - MATCH REPORTS 2014/2015
MANAGER ED HOUSE
Under 11 Major Division Two
Prosperous United 5 vs 2 Derry Rovers
Prosperous U11M-2 team got back to winning ways this week after 2 difficult weeks.
They got under way with a free kick from dead-ball specialist Kyle, This was followed shortly after by a well taken goal by James.
James then scored an incredible goal direct from the corner with the ball curling in off the back post. Derry rover rallied & got their 1st with a good finish from one of their best midfielders. It could have been closer going into halftime but for a good save from Daragh in the Prosperous goal.
Derry Rovers pushed hard at the start of the 2nd half & were rewarded with a well taken goal from inside the box. With the game at 3-2 Derry rovers pushed & were caught out with a great finish from James for his hat-trick with a fantastic volley going in of the underside of the crossbar. The game was finally put to bed with a cool finish from Kyle following a great through ball from Luke. Great defensive work from Tristan, Cameron & Alex & some good interplay from Niall, Aidan & Aaron helped the team get back to winning ways.
Great work lads but the hard work has to keep coming during training & matches. (Ed)

Prosperous v BBC United
Prosperous were on the end of a bad defeat in this game with a very strong BBC team running the Prosperous Team ragged throughout the 1st half. Try as they might the Prosperous team were chasing shadows with 2 of the BBC players showing skills that should have them & their entire team in a different league. The Prosperous team battled on throughout the game & although they were never going to get back into this game they showed great heart & spirit & went very close on at least 4-5 occasions to scoring. This one will be chalked up to experience with no individual Prosperous player shining but all showing commitment, endeavour & a willingness to run until the final whistle. It is from these type of games that character & resilience is born & you cannot enjoy winning without suffering a defeat like this which will hopefully spur the guys going forward. (Ed)
Final Score Prosperous United 0- >5 BBC United
Prosperous United 6-4 Suncroft
Spectators were treated to a fantastic game of football with both teams playing a great passing game. Prosperous raced into a 3-0 lead with a superb hat-trick from Aidan.
Suncroft scored just before half time to work their way back into the game. Prosperous scored almost directly from the restart with a well taken goal from Niall. Suncroft again pushed & scored 2 to make the score 4-3 with 10 mins left.
Prosperous thought they had killed off the game with a fantastic free kick from 25 yards from Kyle but Suncroft went straight up to score again. The game was finally made safe with a good goal from Niall . Prosperous were well marshalled at the back with Tristan, Alex & Kyle all working well & in midfield Luke & James worked tirelessly. Aaron played well in goal for the 1st half making 2 great saves.
It was fantastic to see all the practice turning into goals with some amazing interplay between the guys. Just proves “Practice makes Perfect..

Allenwood 3 v 2 Prosperous United 20th September
On a great morning for football this was a very even contest with both teams creating good chances but just not having the finish to their good moves. Allenwood took the lead with an ambitious shot which sneaked in under Prosperous Keeper Aaron. Prosperous pushed on & there was great work from Aidan & James which resulted in James having 2 chances one which just went passed the post & the 2nd was saved well by the Allenwood Keeper.
The 2nd half saw Allenwood break away & score a well taken goal with Tristan & Cathal just unable to get their tackles in. Allenwood looked to have finished the game off with a superb goal from a long range shot into the bottom corner. However Prosperous boys thought differently & 2 quick goals from James saw the hosts pushed back all the way to the final whistle with an incredible passage of play right at the end with the Allenwood keeper saving bravely from Aidan , Niall & James all in the same passage of play.
Other Prosperous players that gave their all were Luke , Alex & Daragh . With this typr of effort & endeavour it will only be a matter of time before Prosperous notch their 1st win. Well done lads

SATURDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER
Edenderry Town 5- 4 Prosperous United
On only their 2nd outing as a team the U11-2 team gave a fantastic performance to go down in a 9 goal thriller. Prosperous started off like a train & went 3-0 up within the 1st quarter. Goals from Aidan Gormley x 2 & Kyle Kennedy had the home team stunned. Prosperous changed the team around in the 2nd quarter & Edenderry game back in to go into half time tied 3-3. Edenderry took the 3rd quarter by the narrowest of margins with a scrappy goal. The 4th quarter started just like the 3rd with Edenderry again scoring, however Prosperous kicked into another gear & got their 4th goal with about 7 mins left. Try as they might they just could not get the equaliser with the Edenderry keeper making 2 fine saves. Prosperous were pushed on all the way with great midfield performances from Aidan Gormley & James Kealy. Prosperous currently do not have a dedicated Goalkeeper but both Cathal Keely & Daragh Duffay put in good performances with both making fine saves. Other good performances from Alex Kavanagh & Tristan McKeon in defense & Niall Donoghue, Aaron Carmody, & Luke Jacob who interchanged between attack & midfield.

SATURDAY 6TH SEPTEMBER
PROSPEROUS 2 V 7 NEWBRIDGE HOTSPURS
The U11 Major 2 got their 1st season as a team off to a start today with a defeat to a strong Newbridge Hotspurs team
A gutsy 1st half performance saw them trail 3-1 at half time with a penalty from Aidan Gormley. Aidan Gormley again got on the end of a pass from James Keely to make it 3-2, however the team tired as this was their 1st time to play 2 x 30 min halfs and their opponents had opportunities to add to their goal tally to finish the game 7-2 which didn't reflect the fine play from Prosperous.
Other performances of note were from Tristan McKeon, Niall Donohoe, Luke Jacob ,Kyle Kennedy & Cathal Keeley, While Aaron Carmody, Cathal Keely & Daragh Duffay did well coming on as substitutes into positions that were new to them.
All in all a great 1st outing with lots of positives to take into the next match.
