Great write up on page 91 of this week's Leinster Leader about the U15's and their SFAI achievements! Well done to Ger, Dave and the Team.
The Under 14's traveled to Arlington with the hope of securing a win as they chase their first title but things went horribly wrong. Arlington started brightly and could have scored early on but for some smart goal keeping from Conor. After 15 mins Prosperous got going and were unlucky not so score through Rian, David and Liam.
Prosperous were the better side in the first half. With the game goalless at half time Prosperous were upbeat heading into the second however Arlington started the second much better and after 12 mins got their first. Prosperous came back at them but just couldn't equalise after some great efforts from Daniel. Sean, Adam and the best chance from Connor. Arlington got another and as Prosperous chased the game with Eoghan (man of the Match) coming into midfield from defence Arlington scored their third. The final score of 3-0 didn't reflect the real story. Goals win games and Prosperous' failure to score was their downfall. Disappointing for all concerned losing their first game but they'll be back! Prosperous were unlucky not to take anything from this game against Caragh Celtic with a good team performamce.
They went down to an early goal in the first quarter but Gerry pulled one back just before the break to get his 10th goal of the season. There were plenty of shots on goal throughout the match from Megan, Zack, Mick, Szymon and Jack who almost scored a fantastic goal from way outside the box only for the keeper to make a good save. It stayed 1-1 up until the third quarter with some great defending from Ryan R, Alex, Jamie and Mathew until Caragh created a few scoring chances and took them. The midfielders, Sean, Brandon, Ryan N and Gerry were still creating chances for the Prosperous forwards right up to the final whistle. Although 2-0 down at half time Prosperous fought back into the game & went close on a few occasions but as they pushed for an equalizer they were caught out on the break right at the end of the game. One of the coaches informed Ed that this was the best game this team played so far this season with fantastic work from all the players even in a defeat. So much so that he found it difficult to pick one individual. Great work boys keep it going. (Ed) Final score Monasterevin 3-1 Prosperous Utd. Under 8 Major Division 2015

Prosperous 10 Clane 1 After a heavy defeat last week to BBC United, Prosperous returned to winning ways with an emphatic victory over Clane. The strong cold wind meant that everyone was up for this game in an effort to stay warm. Prosperous opened the scoring when Aidan scored but Clane responded to going behind by making it difficult for Prosperous to push on and shortly after they produced a break away goal to level things up. It didn't take long for Prosperous to go back in front and they scored through Niall, James, Aidan & Kyle to go in leading 5-1 at half time. The 2nd half saw Prosperous start to control the game with some great interplay between the players from defense through midfield and on up to the strikers. The football they played at times was fantastic with simple passing and lots of touch and go work. This resulted in many opportunities for goals with Aidan notching 2 more and James, Cathal and Luke also scoring. The Prosperous defense was marshalled very well by Captain Daragh & Cameron with Alex replacing Cameron in the 2nd half. Due to the way in which the team played the coldest player on the pitch during the match was goalkeeper Paul who had very little to do other than taking a few kickouts. Great work boys the Coaches are very happy after this performance, keep up the good work. EH |
